  AboutStAbansSecondaryCollege

  StAlbansSecondaryCollegeopenedasStAlbansHighSchoolin1956,theyearoftheOlympicGamesinMelbourne. TheCollegeisproudofitshistoryastheoriginalsecondaryschoolinthearea,andofitscontinuingroleasaneducationalfocalpointwithinthecommunity.

  StAlbansSecondaryCollegeislocated18kmstothenorthwestoftheCentralBusinessDistrictofMelbourne,withintheCityofBrimbank. StAlbansiseasilyaccessiblebypublictransport,particularlyrail,andbycarbeingonlya20-30minutetriptothecitycentreviatheCalderFreewayandWesternRingRoad. ItisalsoincloseproximitytoMelbourne’sairports-TullamarineandEssendon.

  DatafromtheTriennialReviewindicatesthatstudentsinYear7to10arestillachievingbelowtheStatewidebenchmarksinattendanceandinallstrandsofEnglishandMathematics.The2001-2003CollegeCharterwillusetheMiddleYearsReformProgramasastrategytoimprovetheschools'benchmarksinEnglishandMathematics,attendance,andstudentengagement.Theprogramwillre-evaluatethecurriculum,developalternativelearningandteachingstrategiesandreviewthecurrentschoolorganisationthroughtheMiddleYearsReformProgram.
